1. Visit to the Historic Monument of Zalongo and the Monastery of Agios Dimitrios
Our trip begins with a visit to Zalongo, one of the most significant and emotionally charged historical sites in Greece. On top of the mountain, you will find the Zalongo Monument, dedicated to the women of the Souliot tribe, who in 1803, to avoid capture and enslavement by the Ottomans, leapt off the cliffs along with their children. From the summit of Zalongo, visitors are rewarded with an incredible view of the Ambracian Gulf and the Ionian Sea, with the Ionian Islands visible on the horizon. Before the climb, we will visit the Monastery of Agios Dimitrios, located near the Zalongo Monument. The monastery is a historic and religious site with significant cultural heritage and offers exceptional views of the surrounding area. You will learn about its history and its connection to Souli.
2. Swimming at Vrachos or Loutsa Beach
Next, we will head to two of the most beautiful beaches in the region: Vrachos and Loutsa. Both beaches are renowned for their crystal-clear waters and natural beauty. At Vrachos Beach, visitors can relax on the sandy shore, while Loutsa Beach provides a peaceful atmosphere for swimming and tranquility.
3. Lunch at a Seaside Tavern
The excursion concludes with a delicious Greek lunch at a seaside taverna in the area. Here, you will have the chance to sample fresh seafood, traditional local dishes, and other regional flavors, all served with a beautiful sea view.
4. Return to the Starting Point and Departure
The trip ends with a return to the starting point, leaving you with unforgettable memories of a day well-spent in Preveza.
